CAIRO – 17 JULY 2017: Photopia photography hub will host Shaimaa Alaa, the Egyptian artist/photographer talented at telling stories through sensual portraits, on Thursday, July 20. She will also talk about her talent and the hard work of sensual portraits.
Shaimaa Alaa was born in Cairo, Egypt and works in the field of photography and visual arts. She expresses her feelings through a feminine point of view. Her work has been affected by Egyptian and Arab roots and traditions. It is a complex mix of past and contemporary life, provoking her viewers to live her telling stories.
She won many international awards, such as the grand prize in AlSharjah Photography Contest 2014 and the acquisition award at the Egyptian 24 Youth Art Exhibition in 2013.
The meeting will discuss lots of points with Shaimaa Alaa, such as how she started this kind of art, the meaning behind her images and how she sketches them. She will discuss artist tools and how to control them so that your vision comes to life. Also, there will be explanations about the importance of diving deep into yourself to create your own style.
The Photopia photography school was opened in 2012 in Heliopolis after the revolution. People began to focus on imageries and photography beyond the commercial side.
With the increase of photographers, the founders of Photopia realized photographers need a place to practice their new ideas.
Photopia sells photography equipment and photo books to encourage people to buy photography artworks.
Photopia also hosts musical concerts related to photography.
