Egyptian film 'Rat Hole' to world premiere at Aswan International Women Film Festival

 

"Rat Hole" film that exposes the dark secrets of some Egyptian non-governmental organizations — will be holding its world premiere at Cinema Tulip on March 9th at 6 pm during the activities of the seventh edition of Aswan International Women Film Festival, which kicked off at n March 5th and will continue to March 10th.

 

The film was made by Mohamed El-Samman — the winner of the Best Script of 2022 at the Sawiris Cultural Award — and will be competing in the festival's Official Competition.

 

In a fresh take on a story that has never been told in a movie before, the film follows a female telemarketer for a non-profit organization who tries to convince people to make financial contributions. In order to assist her family, she is forced to violate her principles and act in a manner that exposes the seedy underbelly of the NGO in which she is employed.

 

RAT HOLE, which is written, produced, and directed by Mohamed El Samman, will compete in the Egyptian Feature Film Competition of the festival. The film stars Rana Khattab, who worked as a radio presenter on Nogoum FM and appeared in a number of works, including the play RAYA AND SEKINA'S GRANDCHILDREN, the TV series MULTIFACETED (100 WESH), WRESTLING PINFALL (lAMS AKTAF), and SARAYA ABDEEN.

 

The cast also includes Mohamed Yorka, Kamal El-Asnawy, and Hanan Helmy. MAD Solutions is also managing the film's worldwide distribution.

 

El-Samman is a member of the Egyptian Cinema Syndicate's Directing Department. He released two novels — UNEXPECTED MR. Right (Aris El Ghafla) in 2019 and Remonda in 2021.

 

His script, Earthmen (Ardeyoon), was given a Sawiris Cultural Award by the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development for being the best script of 2022.
