CAIRO – 15 December 2022: Advisor to the Minister of Culture for Heritage Affairs Nahla Emam, representative of Egypt in the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Heritage at UNESCO, revealed efforts to register popular Egyptian dishes such as Koshary and Fava Beans [Foul Medames] on the list of intangible heritage in UNESCO.
“Numerous countries registered their popular food and games,” commented Emam.
Emam added in a phone in on the Egyptian TV that there are also efforts to record and archive the intangible heritage at the national level, adding, "What we have is appreciated and valuable."
Emam indicated that the state proves its entitlement to heritage through practice and evidence to UNESCO that it is present on its territory because heritage is transmitted from country to country, like trade and pilgrimage trips, and now through the internet.
