CAIRO – 29 November 2022: On December 1, Sotheby's Auction House in London will hold an auction titled "Ancient Sculpture and Artwork Part Two", in which a collection of ancient Egyptian and Roman antiquities will be auctioned.
Among the auctioned pieces is an Egyptian limestone block statue of a man, spanning back to the Third Intermediate Period, 1075-716 BC.
The statue is seated on a rectangular pedestal with its arms crossed on its knees and its hands sticking out of its enveloping cloak. He has a short beard and a wide, rounded wig that falls to his shoulders. Behind him is a rectangular column, and his face has two large eyes with chiseled eyebrows and cosmetics. The statue is estimated to cost between £10,000 and £15,000.
