CAIRO – 22 November 2022: The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir is one of the largest international museums, as it includes the largest collection of antiquities of ancient Egypt.
It contains more than 50,000 pharaonic antiquities, in addition to thousands of antiquities in its stores.
Recently, the room in the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir that was once designated to house Tutankhamun’s antiques was renovated to display the holdings of the Tanis Collection, as Tutankhamun’s treasures were transferred to the Grand Egyptian Museum expected to be officially inaugurated soon.
Director General of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Sabah Abdel Razek said that the development of King Tutankhamun's room in the museum has been completed. A new display scenario has been implemented for the Tanis Collection, which includes a large number of distinguished artifacts amounting to 2,000 pieces.
The new collection on display also includes the gold mask of Sheshonq II of the 22nd Dynasty and a number of silver coffins, which are very rare.
Abdel Razek explained in press statements that the room is open for public visits and is already witnessing a high turnout of visitors. The room designated for the Tanis Collection also contains a very large collection of rare gold pieces, unparalleled in the history of ancient Egypt.
