CAIRO – 25 October 2022: In cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research at Helwan University, the ministry, represented by the Supreme Council of Antiquities, participated in observing the partial solar eclipse phenomenon that Egypt witnessed on October 25, from the front yard of the Karnak Temples in Luxor.
This was stated by Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mustafa Waziri, pointing out that the institute provided a number of telescopes and special equipment for visitors of the temple so that they could enjoy observing this rare astronomical phenomenon.
Waziri added that the ministry's participation in monitoring this phenomenon reflects the extent of cooperation between all state entities, and at the same time contributes to enabling tourists to enjoy a rare astronomical phenomenon from the heart of one of the anecdotes of Egyptian architecture, namely the Karnak Temples.
