CAIRO – 5 October 2022: As part of a series of official visits to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, CEO of the Museum’s Authority Ahmed Ghoneim received President of the German Friedrich Ebert Foundation and former President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, at the head of a delegation from the foundation on the sidelines of their current visit to Egypt.
The German delegation was accompanied by Presidential Advisor for Engineering Projects Hany Helmy Azer.
Ghoneim welcomed the delegation and acquainted them with the museum, its unique archaeological holdings, and the historical importance of the surrounding area.
Moreover, Ghoneim took them on a tour at the museum's halls, including the Central Exhibition Hall and the Royal Mummies Hall, where the archaeologist Sherine Othman gave them a detailed presentation about the museum's holdings, the historical sequence of the displayed artifacts and the reason for including them within the museum display scenario to narrate the story of the ancient Egyptian civilization through different ages.
During the tour, Schultz and his accompanying delegation expressed their happiness to visit this great edifice, and see its unique archaeological treasures. The delegation was also keen to take photos in the museum, which they described as magnificent.
At the end of the visit, Schulz wrote a word of thanks and appreciation in the museum's visit book, and Ghoneim presented to Schulz and the accompanying delegation a set of souvenirs.
It is noteworthy that the Friedrich Ebert Foundation [FES] was founded in 1925 and is one of the most prestigious political institutions in Germany. It works to consolidate the basic values of social democracy and solidarity. It plays important roles in political education to strengthen civil society as well as international cooperation through its offices outside Germany in more than 100 countries.
