Prominent actor Hisham Selim passes away at 64

CAIRO – 22 September 2022: Prominent Egyptian actor Hisham Selim passed away at the age of 64, after a struggle with cancer.

The funeral is scheduled to take place in the afternoon of September 22 from the Police Mosque in Sheikh Zayed City.

Hisham Mohamed Saleh Selim was born on January 24, 1958.  He did not inherit the love of football from his father. Instead, he loved acting and the artistic field in general. He graduated from the Institute of Tourism and Hotels in 1981, and then completed free studies at the Royal Academy in the British capital, London.

After completing his studies abroad, Selim returned to Egypt and started his acting career with the famed movie “Embratoreyat Meem” [M Empire], in which he played the role of a naughty boy alongside prominent actors Ahmed Mazhar and Faten Hamama.

After the success of the movie, Selim was offered numerous roles in other films such as “Oreedo Halan” [I Want A Solution], “Awdat El-Ibn El-Dal” [Return Of The Lost Son], “El-Nazer” [The Head Master], and “Ya Donia Ya Gharamy”, among others.

Selim also played numerous iconic roles in successful TV series such as “Layali el-Helmeya” [Helmeya Nights], “Hagma Mortada” [Counter-attack], and “El-Raya El Bayda” [The White Flag].
