File: Bronze statue of Imohotep.
This statue shows the famous architect Imhotep seated and holding a papyrus scroll on his lap.
He lived during the 3rd Dynasty and was the mastermind behind the Step Pyramid at Saqqara, the first stone monumental structure in the world.
The pyramid was built as the burial grounds for king Djoser.
In later periods, the then-deified Imhotep was revered as the god of medicine, architecture, and was a patron of scribes.
