The Egyptian archaeological mission of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, working in Esna, uncovered a cache containing a number of coins.

The newly uncovered coins are from different historical periods of the Islamic era.

The Egyptian archaeological mission of the Supreme Council of Antiquities also found parts of coinage molds and weights.

Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziry explained that this discovery is important because it revealed that there was a place to mint the coins in Esna.
