The colossal statue of queen Meritamun was found in the ancient site of “Per-Bastet”, meaning “the house of Bastet”.
The site was the cult center of the cat-goddess Bastet as well as a major pilgrimage site and the capital of Egypt during the 22nd Dynasty.
Queen Meritamun was the daughter of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari.
The 9-meter-tall colossus shows queen Meritamun standing wearing a crown and a vulture cap on top of her wig.
