CAIRO – 5 September 2022: Rokn Farouk Museum in Helwan will organize a series of events to celebrate its 80th establishing anniversary, which falls annually on September 5.
Head of the Museums Sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities Momen Othman explained that the events include a symposium on the history, establishment and holdings of the museum. Also, lyrical and musical segments will be performed by Edrak troupe of the Child Center for Civilization and Creativity, and the Tanoura heritage dance show in cooperation with the Helwan Culture Center.
Additionally, the museum will organize educational children workshop on using stainless steel vacuuming and printing on cardboard with watercolors, as well as an archaeological storytelling workshop on the history of the museum.
Rokn Farouk Museum houses a group of exhibition halls, including the reception, the fireplace, the dining room, and the sleeping suite, in addition to the balconies overlooking the Nile. The museum’s galleries have an area of about 440 square meters.
It is worth noting that Rokn Farouk Museum was a royal rest house established for King Farouk on the bank of the Nile, west of Helwan, in 1939. The royal emblem of King Farouk is engraved on the gates. The King entrusted the Minister of Royal Works at that time to build it on an area of approximately three acres in the form of a ship moored on the bank of the Nile. It has river berths designed along the bank of the Nile to receive the royal yacht.
A marble fountain with statues of musicians on it is located in the center of the museum's garden. The water in the fountain can be seen pouring out of marble musical instruments.
