Cairo – 15 July 2017: The 53rd edition of the International Catharge festival opened on Thursday, the 13th of July, and ends on August 18th, 2017. A group of Tunisian artists have participated in the Carthage festival, bringing with them a variety of their country's local music.

The top Tunisian singers performing at the festival are Qasim Kafi, Salaf, Noor Al-Din al -Baji, Muhammed al-Jibali, Adnan al-Shawashi, Rashid al-Majri, Asmaa bin Ahmed and Manjiyeh al-Sfax.

Festival director Mukhtar Al-Rasa stated that the opening performance was an honor for Tunisia's music and its people.

Audiences at the festival were treated to Tunisian songs from a number of other musicians as well, such as Shazly Anwar, Reza Al-Qala'i, Sadiq Thuria, Saleh Al-Mahdy, Mohammad Al-Triki and Al-Shazly Anwar. Not only that, but Nour el-deen el-Baltagy performed on the Carthage stage, demonstrating to live audiences how powerful his voice is.

Catharge is considered one of the most important festivals in the Arab and African world. Housed in the antiquities theater of Carthage and the Museum of Carthage, the festival is annual, taking place consistently every July and August since 1964, in the coastal city of the same name. The festival features a variety of genres, from classical music, jazz, folk, to theaters with films and ballet on display. It was established by the Tunisian Ministry of Culture Affairs to bring foreign production to Tunisia, and to introduce their culture to the western world.
