CAIRO – 17 July 2022: During the Eid al-Adha holidays, many archaeological sites and museums across Egypt witnessed a high turnout of Egyptian and foreign visitors.
For his part, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri explained that Egypt's museums, including the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, Alexandria National Museum, Royal Jewelry Museum, Sohag Museum and others, received thousands of visitors during Eid al-Adha holidays.
According to Waziri, the Pyramids’ Antiquities Area received nearly 70,000 visitors. As for the areas of Salah El-Din Citadel in Cairo, Historic Cairo, and the archaeological areas in Alexandria such as Qaitbay Castle, Kom El-Shuqafa, Serapeum of Alexandria, and others, received thousands of visitors.
Waziri added that these high numbers reflect the passion of locals, as well as tourists, to learn about Egypt's unmatched civilization and heritage.
