CAIRO – 9 June 2022: Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled el-Enani issued a decision for 15 restorers and curators of Egyptian antiquities to obtain an intensive training program in the field of museology in Italy.
Head of the Museums Sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities Moamen Othman explained that this training program comes in light of the project to rehabilitate the Museum of Islamic Art and related museums, namely, the Gayer-Anderson Museum, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, and the Mohammad Ali Palace in Manial, which is implemented in cooperation with UNESCO.
Othman added that the training program consists of a number of topics, including the management of museum collections, the preservation of archival materials, and the science of materials for maintenance and restoration. It will be implemented in three phases during the months of July and September.
