CAIRO – 7 June 2022: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem received a delegation from France, including Catherine Morin-Desailly, a member of the French Senate; president of the Egyptian-French Friendship Association; and head of the Culture, Tourism and Heritage Committee in Normandy.
Desailly was accompanied by Ambassador of France to Cairo Marc Baréty, Deputy Director General of Normandy Christine Dorville, Cultural Cooperation Attaché at the French Embassy David Régnier, and Raphael Girard theater director of Riv Gauche.
The convention was held to discuss ways to support joint cooperation and strengthen the strategic partnership between the Egyptian and French sides in the cultural, artistic and heritage fields.
During the meeting, Abdel Dayem praised the strong ties between the two countries and the permanent cooperation between them in the cultural and artistic fields over the past decades, which culminated in the Egyptian-French Year of Culture 2019. She added that it was agreed to start studying and preparing a set of intellectual and artistic projects between the two sides, emphasizing that soft powers play an important role in deepening friendship between nations and expressing the creative reality in societies.
For her part, Catherine Morin-Desailly said that the Egyptian civilization is characterized by diversity, stressing that it played an influential role in the formation of the cultures of various societies. She confirmed she follows the Egyptian intellectual and artistic activities, which recently witnessed a state of glow, and expressed her happiness with cooperating with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture to implement reciprocal creative projects worthy of the cultural depth the two countries enjoy.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides exchanged souvenirs showcasing the cultural heritage of Egypt and France.
