In an unprecedented experience, the second edition of the Rising Stars tournament in League of Legends achieved great success in the esports community in the Arab world. Thanks to Gamers Lounge that succeeded to gather 137 teams from 15 Arab countries that registered and competed for a total prize pool of 20,000$, for five days.

The tournament concluded with a final match between two of the biggest esports teams in the region, Ra’ad and Anubis Gaming, and was won by Ra’ad. The Gamers Lounge was interested in monitoring the players' reactions in the finals, in order to achieve the greatest mass interaction. In order to achieve that, the Gamers Lounge added the webcam player selection; where through using a combination of different technologies, the team at Gamers Lounge was able to bind players’ webcams with champion selection, managing to transmit to the audience a full experience of not just gameplay, but also the pleasure of watching the players' reactions live as well.

For the first time at the Arab world, Gamers Lounge decided to introduce augmented reality in the esports live broadcast in the region with the Rising Stars. Gamers Lounge’s team was able to produce all 159 League of Legends champions with the addition of shaders, reflections, and lights (and more) where they had to communicate all game events through APIs to be able to render the champions live in high resolution on the spot, providing a unique experience in the Arab world.

Hashem Al-Borno, Co-Founder and COO comments on this, “It is magnificent that our company offers a similar experience of the world tournaments to the Arab public who loves esports. I see that the technologies we used are evidence of our boldness and enthusiasm to develop the live experience in the Arab world.” Al-Borno adds, “The popularity of esports in the Arab world, which we monitor with the number of views and comments during the tournament, confirming that we are on the right track, and the world will not see us if we, ourselves, do not see Arab cadres and talents, and support them in the field of esports.”

The tournament was brought to the Arab world by Nigma Galaxy, the esports team based in UAE and that emerged as a merger between Team Nigma and Galaxy Racer. The tournament was sponsored by Etihad Airways and Abu Dhabi Gaming, and was organized and broadcasted by Gamers Lounge.

It is worth mentioning that esports in the Arab world is taking online competition to a whole new level, and the esports community is constantly growing to include more members and careers, and it is thrilling to see that many national and international brands are starting to take an interest in it and see the true potential of their investments in the field.

In the end, Al-Borno added: “We will always strive to bring the best production value to the Arab world.” He also thanked all the talents and the esports community for making this a wonderful experience, telling them that: “Your passion and support is what keeps us going!”
