CAIRO – 30 May 2022: Christie's Art House in London is preparing to sell a group of Egyptian and Roman sculptures at an auction titled "Antiques", on June 6.

Among the statues being auctioned is an Egyptian bronze statue with a falcon head, dating back to the fourth century BC. Its price is estimated between £70,000  and £100,000.

Notably, two weeks of high-profile sales in Manhattan ended with Christie's, Sotheby's and Phillips auctions as 11 artist sales records were broken, including six female artists. This drove the total of various spring sales at Sotheby's, Christie's and Phillips to more than $2.5 billion.

"The market is stronger than ever," said American antiques dealer David Benrimon, according to the New York Times. "Selling the McCloy family's paintings grossed nearly $1 billion," referring to the family's paintings that sold at Sotheby's for nearly $922 million.

"When the stock markets are down, people look to invest in art, it's more tangible, the art market is anti-shock," Benrimon added.
