CAIRO – 29 May 2022: On June 1, Ubuntu Art Gallery in Zamalek will host an exhibition for the late artist Wissa Wassef, under the title "The School of Instinctive Creativity".
The exhibition runs until June 21.
Also, an open discussion will be held on June 8, under the title "A Journey with Creativity," with Suzan Wissa Wassef and Ikram Mounir Noshy, about Ramses Wissa Wassef’s artistic school and journey.
Ramses Wissa Wassef is considered one of the most prominent 20th century architects in Egypt. His father was the great politician and veteran Wafd representative, Wissa Wassef, who was also an arts lover.
Wissa Jr. studied in France and was greatly influenced by the experimental approach to art. It is what had the greatest impact on him upon his return and pushed him to go through his unique experience. He established the local arts center in the village of Harraniya in the Egyptian governorate of Giza.
The center has largely succeeded in resettling the arts of carpet and kilim making in that village and the center's products gained international fame as well as the appraisal of international exhibitions because of their artistic originality.
By the time of Ramses Wissa Wassef's death, the center had already earned its great reputation and wide fame in various international design houses.
