Hawas Band to perform at 15th International Summer Festival

CAIRO – 14 July 2017: The Hawas band will perform at the 15th International Summer Festival held in the Bibliotheca Alexandria Arts Center on Sunday, July 16.

Founded in Cairo in 2014, Hawas experiments with a variety of musical trends and genres. The progressive band blends words and music to express human pain, sadness and joy.

The band released two self-produced albums in 2015 which are Hawas and Like Winter. They have performed at many live shows inside and outside Egypt. The band participated in several important events including the 2017 Carthage Musical Festival, the 2017 D- Caf festival and the opening of Al Ghouta films in 2016.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) Arts Center announced that the 15th Annual International Summer Festival started on Monday, July 10, and runs until Saturday, August 26.

The festival program hosts various concerts featuring several prominent Egyptian stars such as Ali el-Haggar, Hany Shaker and Hanan Mady. Egyptian mega star and Alexandria native, Angham will give a concert to bring the festival to a close on Wednesday, August 26.

The International Summer Festival is a big music and arts festival organized by the BA Arts Center with the aim of adding a “colorful taste” to Alexandria’s summer, as its mission statement says. It attracts a wide audience by combining Egyptian classical art and new art and music multimedia. The 2017 addition will present 60 artistic events including music, theatre, cinema and dance.
