CAIRO – 13 July 2017: Iraqi singer Kadem Al Saher expressed his gratitude on Monday to the Iraqi army for liberating the city of Mosul from the Islamic State terrorist group. His gratitude was expressed in a video he posted on his Facebook.
“Thanks for our hero martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the sake of our precious land, peace upon your souls, and you will be remembered forever,” Al-Sahir said in his video, which has over 1.8 million views.
He also sent a message to Ninawa city saying “to my beloved city Ninawa, and all its citizens from different religions, the hearts of all Iraqi people are with you.”
Kadem Al Saher is an Iraqi singer who was born in 1957. Throughout his over 30 year-long career he has gained numerous artistic awards including the much respected BBC Radio 3 World Music award, the Jordan Awards for Best Arabic Artist and Lebanese Murex d’Or Lifetime Achievement Legend Award, according to his official Facebook page.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi formally declared victory over the Islamic State in Mosul in a speech on state television on Monday, marking the biggest defeat for the group since it declared a caliphate three years ago, Reuters reported.
