CAIRO – 15 May 2022: The Arab press has lost one of its icons with the death of veteran Egyptian journalist and writer Salah Montaser at the age of 87, after a struggle with illness.
The late journalist and writer is considered one of the symbols of Al-Ahram Foundation and one of its iconic writers who have their clear imprints on its history.
Montaser was a prominent writer and journalist for Al-Ahram newspaper, born in Damietta Governorate. He is best known for his daily column “Just An opinion”.
He joined the Faculty of Law, and then worked with the prominent journalist Hassanein Heikal as a journalist at Al-Ahram Foundation.
Moreover, Montaser was a member of the Shura Council, a member of the Supreme Council of the Press in Egypt, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Media Center.
He also held the position of editor-in-chief of October magazine, and chairman of the board of directors of Dar Al-Maaref for printing and publishing.
