CAIRO – 13 July 2017: National Organization for Urban Harmony finished phase ‘Lived Here’ project, which aims to commemorate Egypt's cultural figures by putting signs with one of the QR codes at the entrance of their houses, Al-Masry Al-Youm reported Wednesday.

The project highlights some authors, artists, poets and other public figures who enriched the old and contemporary Egyptian history. The signs will include the name, birth and death date, and most prominent works. It will also include QR codes that link the board to the official website of the project, www.livedhere.org.eg, however the site is not yet online.

The website will be launched by the Information and Decision Support Center as part of a collaboration protocol with Ministry of Culture. The project aims to document an important part of the Egyptian memory for future generations.

“Phase one of the project featured figures who enriched the cultural, architectural and literary history of Egypt like Nobel laureate author Naguib Mahfouz, Artist Said Mekkawy, composer Ammar El-Sheraie, Poet Foad Haddad, Actor Youssef Wahby and pioneer architect Aly Labib Gabr” said head of National Organization for Urban Harmony Muhamed Abu Seida, according to Al-Watan on Thursday.

He added that they are coordinating with Cairo and Giza governorates to erect these signs at the former homes of these individuals.

Seida said in an interview with Al-Shorouq in 2016 that the ‘Lived Here’ project is sponsored by UNESCO, as Egypt has 6000 historical buildings. He added that the organization is working on cataloging these sites by placing signs with QR Codes in order to create a database of all the Egyptian pioneers who have greatly enriched Egypt’s heritage.
