The 44th edition of Cairo International Film Festival to kick off from November 13-22

The 44th edition of Cairo International Film Festival will kick off from November 13-22 in Cairo opera house

 

Like every edition the award-winning films will be screened after the closing ceremony on November 23.

 

Submissions for the program will open on May 15, will close on August 15.

 

Films can be submitted on www.ciff.org.eg .

 

“Preparations for the upcoming edition of the festival have started already and we are hoping to have an edition that is worthy of the festival legacy” renowned actor and festival president  Hussein Fahmi recounted.

 

Amir Ramses , Festival director commented “ we have already started to watch , invite and follow up on the expected important films of the year along with the programming team.”

 

98 films participated in the 43rd edition of the festival from 63 countries including 27 world premieres, 7 international premieres, 44 MENA premieres and 15 Arab and north African premieres .

 

More than 40000 tickets have been sold during that edition witnessing a significant increase in numbers from the previous editions , 337 international guests participated in the festival in 2021 .

 

CIFF granted renowned Egyptian actress “Nelly” the career achievement award for her great artistic contribution since her early childhood .

 

Also famed Egyptian actor Karim Abel Aziz has received the Faten Hamama award for his artistic contribution , special honorary awards were received by Cannes film festival director “Thierry Frémaux”, Indian composer “ A.R. Rahman” , American producer “ Lawrence Binder” and French producer/distributor “Eric Lagesse” .

 

The Jury of the international competition of the festival was presided by acclaimed Serbian director “ Emir Kusterica” , the juries included a variety of significant film makers and artists from around the world.

 

Cairo Film Festival is one of the oldest festivals in the Arab world and Africa , it is the only festival in the region classified in the A category by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations , FIAPF
