CAIRO – 1 May 2022: With Ramadan wrapping-up, cinemas in Egypt will be bustling with Eid-al Fitr movies.
‘El-Ankabot’ [The Spider]
This film is starring Ahmad el-Sakka, Mona Zaki and Dhaffer L’Abidine . Its official release date was postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.‘El-Ankabot’ brings Egypt’s star Ahmed el-Sakka back to the cinematic spotlight after a hiatus of four years.
The much anticipated film revolves around a drug dealer who manages to manufacture and sell a new narcotic, only to get caught up in numerous chases by the police.
The film’s cast includes Yousra el-Lozy, Reem Mostafa, Mohamed Lotfy, Ahmed Fouad Selim, Zaki Fateen Abdel Wahab, Akram el-Sharkawy and Mahmoud Gharib.
The guest of honors include Mohamed Mamdouh, Chico and Shaima Seif. It is written by Mohamed Nair and directed by Ahmed Nader Galal.
'El Gawahergy' [The Jeweler]
After almost 20 years, the film “El Gawahergy” (The Jeweler) unites mega-stars Mohamed Henedy and Mona Zaki on the big screen.
Lebleba, Egypt’s beloved actress, also co-stars in the film. The film is a comedy, with Egypt’s legendary comedian Henedy playing the role of a top-tier gem dealer who finds his reputation shattered because of his turbulent relationship with his wife.
The film’s cast also includes Ahmed el-Sadany, Reem Mostafa, Aser Yassin, among others. It is directed by Islam Khairy and written by Omar Taher.
Wahed Tany [A Different Man]
Egypt’s mega-star Ahmed Helmy will star in the film “Wahed Tany” during the Eid al-Fitr film marathon.The film co-stars Amr Abdel Galil, Nisreen Amin, Ruby, Nour Ehab, Ahmed Malik and Amr Wahba. It is written by Haitham Dabour and directed by Mohamed Shaker Khodair.
The film revolves around a man named Mustafa who works as a prison counsellor. Mustafa falls into the trap of apathy due to problems with his career. He begins to find the joys in life again, thanks to a friend of his, hence becoming a “Different Man”.
“Ashbah Europa” [Ghosts of Europe]
The makers of the film “Ashbah Europa” [Ghosts of Europe], starring Haifa Wehbe and Ahmed el-Fishawy, decided to release it in Egyptian cinemas during Eid al-Fitr. The film was also postponed numerous times during the past period.
The film can be categorized as an action and a psychological thriller.
“Ashbah Europa” revolves around the tale of Lili (Haifa Wehbe), who gave birth to sextuplets.
To her horror, Lili discovers that her husband has sold three of her six children behind her back to make ends meet. In a dilemma she never experienced before, the woman starts a heart wrenching global mission to locate her missing children.
The cast also includes Bayoumi Fouad, Mostafa Khater, Arwa Gouda, Abbas Abu Al-Hassan, and a number of guests of honor headed by Bassem Samra.
The film is written by Kareem Farouk and directed by Mohamed Hamaki, in his very first experience as a film director.
“Ashbah Europa” brings Haifa Wehbe back to the cinematic spotlight after a five-years hiatus since her last film “Halawet Rouh”.
'Zombie' [Zombie]
The film “Zombie” stars Ali Rabie, Hamdi el-Mirghani, Karim Afifi, Hagar Ahmed, Arefa Abdel-Rasoul, Mohamed Otaka, Mohamed Mahmoud, among others.The film is written by Hisham Abul-Magd and Amin Gamal and directed by Amr Salah.
“Zombie” is a comedy that revolved around a Mahragant singer named Ali Bata [Ali Rabie]. Bata and his band head to Sohag in Upper Egypt to perform a gig. While they are heading back, their car breaks down, coming face to face with a zombie, who puts them through hell.
