CAIRO – 4 April 2022: The Cultural Development Fund set the operating hours for visiting the Naguib Mahfouz Museum [Tkiyet Abul Dahab]. For those who wish to visit the museum, it is open from 9:30 a.m. until 14:30 p.m., every day except on Tuesdays.
It is worth noting that the museum is designed in the ancient style and its administration is located on the first floor. The second floor is allocated to Naguib Mahfouz's holdings. There is a growing interest in improving the condition of the museum, and in this context an elevator has recently been installed to better serve the museum visitors.
The museum also houses a group of collectibles used by the late writer, and his personal belongings that were given to the museum by his daughter. In addition to certificates of appreciation from local and international bodies in his honor. It also includes his Nobel Prize certificate as well as paper clippings from old newspapers that include episodes of his novels.
This is, of course, in addition to his huge library, which houses more than a thousand books, to let the visitor know what books the Nobel laureate used to read.
There is also an Iranian carpet with a single knot that adorns one of the museum rooms. It is a masterpiece that was in Mahfouz's house and was donated by his family to the museum.
