March 27 marks World Theater Day

CAIRO – 27 March 2022: World Theater Day is celebrated annually on March 27.

A number of activities and celebrations are held on this occasion. It became customary for a creative and theatrical personality to be chosen to write a special speech to be delivered on this day and circulated to all theater institutions in the world.

World Theater Day was established by ITI and was first celebrated on March 27, 1962, the launch date of the 'Theatre of Nations' season in Paris. 

Since then and on this date every year, World Theater Day has been celebrated on a global scale.

The objectives of World Theater Day, as with World Dance Day, are:

• Promote this art across the world.
• Spread knowledge among people on the value of various art forms.
• Enable the dance and theater communities to widely promote their work so that decision makers understand the value of these artistic models and provide them with support.
• Encourage enjoying art in general.
