CAIRO – 20 March 2022: UN French Language Day is celebrated annually on March 20. On this day, international celebrations are held to express the importance of the French language in various fields.
UN French Language Day has been celebrated since 2010, specifically on the day that coincides with the fortieth anniversary of the International Francophone Organization.
Moreover, the celebration comes within the framework of the efforts of the United Nations in the field of multiculturalism in order to raise the level of awareness of history and culture.
Also, the celebration of the UN French Language Day reflects what this language offers in different fields for a large number of countries, the most important of which is tourism, which is reflected in their economy.
Furthermore, celebrations of the UN French Language Day is carried out by organizing many events and activities that aim primarily to disseminate and promote the French language, in many forms, whether on the ground, or on social media platforms, and launch initiatives and programs to teach the French language for non-native speakers.
The International Francophone Organization was officially founded in 1970. Its strategic objective is to activate and develop the French language, and to preserve the cultural and linguistic diversity of the member states, which include 80 countries.
The French language is considered by many as a romantic. It is spoken as a first language in France, the Romandy region in Switzerland, Wallonia and Brussels in Belgium, Monaco, the province of Quebec and the Acadia region in Canada, northern Louisiana, and in various communities elsewhere.
