CAIRO - 12 July 2017: Mel Gibson’s ‘Hacksaw Ridge,’ a biographic war drama, will be screening in Heliopolis, Balcon for an entrance fee of LE 25 ($1.3).
The film stars Andrew Garfield as Desmond Doss, Vince Vaughn as Sergeant Howell and Sam Worthington as Captain Jack Glover and Hugo Weaving as Tom Doss.
The movie tells the true story of WWII Army Medic Desmond Doss, who took a religious vow never to take another man’s life. The film follows his life from childhood to his time in the war, showing how his beliefs have shaped his life and how he managed to overcome the ridicule and persecution of his fellow soldiers through his bravery.
Desmond served in the Battle of Okinawa while valiantly keeping to his pacifistic ways, becoming the first man in America’s history to receive the Medal of Honor without ever touching a gun.
Released on a budget of $40 million, the film managed to gross $163 million dollars at the worldwide box office.
Hacksaw Ridge won ‘Best Achievement in Film Editing’, 'Best Achievement in Sound Mixing' at the Oscars and was also nominated for ‘Best Motion Picture of the Year.’
