Egypt’s Opera to celebrate Karem Mahmoud’s centenary on March 6

CAIRO – 6 March 2022: The Egyptian Opera House, headed by Magdy Saber, continues to implement its plan to commemorate the symbols of music and singing in Egypt, as it will celebrate the centenary of the artist Karem Mahmoud, with the participation of Abdel Halim Nuwayra Troupe for Arab Music, on March 6, at 8 p.m. on the Grand Theater.

 

 

 

 

The celebration’s program includes a collection of Mahmoud’s works that formed prominent marks in the history of Arabic music.

 

 

 

 

It is noteworthy that Karem Mahmoud, a prominent Arab musician, was born on March 16, 1922 in Damanhour. He obtained a diploma from the Fouad I Institute of Arabic Music in 1945. 

 

 

 

 

Mahmoud enjoyed a distinguished operatic voice. He is the first to revive the musical theater after Sayed Darwish and restore the art of radio operetta. His personal music compositions reached 180 songs and he sang on 281 compositions of a group of famous musical composers. Also, Mahmoud co-starred in a number of films.

 

 

 

 

Mahmoud passed away on January 15, 1995.
