CAIRO – 16 February 2022: King Tutankhamun's scarf will be displayed for the first time withlin King Tutankhamun's collection at the Grand Egyptian Museum, which houses a huge amount of relics that exceeds 50,000.

The artifacts housed in the Grand Egyptian Museum will include the complete collection of King Tutankhamun, which will be displayed for the first time together in one place. The visitors will be able to enjoy the complete 5,000 personal artifacts of the golden king at the official opening of the museum, which is scheduled to take place in the second half of 2022.

The scarf was among the possessions of King Tutankhamun, and it was received in the Organic Antiquities Laboratory as an unclear block. Studies, examinations, analyses and imaging were carried out using Yd and RI lamps, to determine whether the layers are cohesive or not. The surprise was the discovery of important inscriptions in the front part of the mantle.

A work plan was drawn up, as the condition of the scarf was moderate. It was possible to straighten the piece in the lab using a modern water vapor device that moistened and straightened the piece.

The length of the piece after its unfolding reached about 4 meters and 80 centimeters, and it took about three weeks to restore.

After the piece was fully prepared, a stand suitable for the length of the piece had to be especially designed, as there is no carton of this length. Thus, connections were made inside the carton after placing the piece on fabric.
