Acclaimed Egyptian harpist Manal Mohieldin wil perform at Cairo Opera House on February 22.
As part of the cultural and artistic program organized by the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, the museum’s Open Roman Theater hosted a concert for the Egyptian harpist Manal Mohieldin,who dazzled the attendees with her solo performance.
Mohieldin presented a group of exquisite pieces from the heritage of Arab music, as well as a selection of her new compositions characterized by combining international classical compositions with traditional Arabic music.
CEO of the Museum Authority Ahmed Ghoneim indicated that this concert is the first of the events and celebrations that will be held at the Open Roman Theater, pointing out that all the attendees expressed their admiration of the ceremony and the picturesque venue in the museum.
This event came to link ancient art with modernity, as the harp is one of the most prominent artifacts displayed in the museum. It is one of the oldest instruments in history and appeared among the musical instruments of ancient Egyptian that were used in religious rituals in temples and dance celebrations. The harp also appeared in the drawings of the ancient Egyptians on the walls of various temples and tombs.
It is worth noting that Manal Mohieldin is one of the first Egyptian musicians to play the harp. She is ranked among the top ten female harp players in the world and held many concerts all over the world.
