Glimpses from the opening of extraordinary edition of Cairo Film Society Festival

 

This one of a kind ceremony witnessed the attendance of large number  of audience and attendees.

 

 

The festival management announced the artists that were chosen to be the best in 2020 and 2021, and who also competed for the festival awards in various branches, including producer Ahmed El-Sobky, producer Shahinaz El-Akkad, producer Mohamed Abdel Hamid, director Mohamed Gamal El-Adl, director Amir Ramses, director Amr Salama and director Mohamed Amin and Ayman.  Makram, Ahmed Alaa El-Deeb, director Imad El-Bahat, actress Zina Mansour, writer Mahmoud Ezzat, artist Mohamed Youssef, director Ahmed Fouad, director of photography Mohamed Shafiq, director Ashraf Fayek.

 

 

President of the Film Association and President of the Festival said: “The Film Association for Egyptian Cinema was established by 1974, where the first edition of the festival was launched in 1975, and this non-stop-ably continued for 48 years. Some obstacles had appeared that lead to postponing with no intention to cancel, the first was due to the January 25 revolution, and the two editions were held in one year after  that , the second postponement was last year, due to COVID-19 and this year we are organizing two editions together as well”.

 

Abdel Samie continued to welcome the attendees, including Dr. Khaled Abdel Jalil, advisor to the Ministry of Culture for cinema affairs, the great script writer Bashir Al Deek and members of the jury including, director Tamer Mohsen, director Mohamed Abu Seif, critic Osama Abdel Fattah, critic and writer Walid Seif, artist Bushra, critic Magdy El Tayeb, critic  Ramy Al-Metwally, director and director of photography Mohsen Ahmed, writer and critic Amal Othman, director Adel Al-Aasar, producer Farouk Abdel-Khaleq.

 

 

In his speech veteran Egyptian actor Husseij Fahmy expressed his happiness to be a guest of honor for the Film Society Festival, praising the role it plays in the cultural and cinematic community.

 

He said: “We are all with the association and we are interested in the presence of associations such as the CairoFilm Society, such a form that exists in all parts of the film society”. He ended his speech with an appreciation word for all his colleagues and the owners of the film festivals, expressing how their presence supports the cinematic scene in the Arab world.

 

Mahmoud Abdel Samie, Hussein Fahmy and Khaled Abdel Jalil distributed the festival certificates for the best films in 2020 and 2021, based on a public referendum from critics, journalists and specialists, for their great distinction and entry into the festival, and they are: Ayman Makram for the movie “Youm W Leila”, Imad Al-Bahat for the movie “Sondok El Donia”, director Muhammad Jamal  Al-Adl for the film “Saheb El Makam”, director Othman Abu Laban for the movie “Tawaam Rohy”, and it was received by the producer Ahmed El-Sobky, who indicated that he had made almost 100 films. 

 

Along with the director Amir Ramses for the “Curfew- Hazr Tagawol”  film, director Ahmed El-Gendy for the film “Waefet Regala” and received by the author Haitham Dabour,  Director Ahmed Alaa El-Deeb for the movie “Al-Arif”, director Sherif Arafa for the movie “El Ens Wel Nems” and it was received by the artist Hussein Fahmy, director Mohamed Amin for the movie “200Geneh”, director Peter Mimi for the movie “Moussa”, and got received by Rasha Gawdat, director Amr Salama for the movie”Bara El Manhag”, and finally director

 Nadine  Khan and her the movie “Abu Saddam”.
