CAIRO – 30 January 2022: As part of the technological development witnessed by the various museums and archaeological sites and in light of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' digital transformation strategy, the first update of the mobile application of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat was launched.
CEO of the Museum Authority Ahmed Ghoneim explained that the update focuses on several aspects, including the available information about the artifacts displayed in the museum, its internal maps, as well as the services provided to visitors.
Ghoneim added that all the updates came in accordance with the museum visitors' evaluation of the application, which is set to facilitate and improve their experience.
Furthermore, Ghoneim pointed out that the museum will continue to self modernize and develop to better connect with the public, emphasizing the museum's role as a cultural beacon.
It should be noted that the initial release of the museum's mobile application took place last December in cooperation with IPMagiX. The application bears the name NMEC and can be downloaded from both Google play and the App store.
The application provides an interior map of the museum, an overview of some of the places in it, and details about some artifacts, with the possibility of requesting a permit to visit the restoration laboratory. This is in addition to directing the visitor to the museum's ticket booking site.
