CAIRO – 26 January 2022: On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Egyptian Police Day, which falls on January 25 of each year, the National Police Museum in Salah El-Din Citadel in Cairo organized a cultural event Tuesday, in cooperation with the Department of Archaeological Awareness and Community Communication in Historic Cairo at the Supreme Council of Antiquities.
According to the Head of the Museums Sector Moamen Othman, the celebrations included a theatrical performance that sheds light on the role that policemen play in serving the Egyptian people and maintaining their security and safety, in addition to presenting patriotic songs, a Tanoura Dance Show, a cultural symposium and a storytelling workshop for children about the history of the Egyptian Police Day. An art workshop for drawing and shaping with clay was also held for children from 8 to 14 years old.
The museum's trustees accompanied the visitors on guided tours inside the various halls of the museum and distributed certificates of appreciation to a number of families of the martyrs of the Egyptian police.
For his part, Director General of the Museum Abdel Basset Mahmoud Mohamed indicated that on the sidelines of the celebration, a temporary art exhibition was held under the title “Memory of the Battle of Ismailia,” which includes a group of rare photographs that highlight the events of the battle that took place on January 25, 1952, its results, and the reasons for choosing this day to be a holiday for the Egyptian police. The exhibition to underlines the epic heroism of the Egyptian police in the Battle of Ismailia in 1952.
