Egyptian Actors Syndicate issued a statement on Monday supporting and defending Mona Zaki after being heavily criticized over her role in the Arabic remake of “ Perfect Strangers”, titled “Ashab Wala A’az”.
The Egyptian Actors Syndicate headed by Ashraf Zaki said in its statement that it will not accept any verbal abuse, or any form of threats against any Egyptian artist because of their artistic work, adding that they will support Mona Zaki against any procedure taken.
“Defending creative freedom in a civil state is an essential pillar of Egyptian conscience that the syndicate will always protect,” said the syndicate’s statement, stressing its “keenness to preserve the Egyptian society’s values and tackling sensitive issues through art.”
Egyptian parliament member Mostafa Bakry severely criticized the movie, its makers and Netflix, accusing its makers of being involved in a conspiracy that targets Egyptian principals and moralities.
