661 - Ali bin Abi Talib, the fourth of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs, is stabbed with a poisoned sword while performing the Fajr prayer at the hands of Abdul Rahman bin Muljam. He died three days later.

 

 

 

 

1800 - The signing of the Convention of El-Arish between General Kleber and the Ottomans regarding the evacuation of the French from Egypt.
