CAIRO – 11 JULY 2017: Singer Hanan Mady will perform a concert during the 15th International Summer Festival on Friday, July 14 at the Main Hall in the Library of Alexandria.
Hanan Mady is an Egyptian singer born in Cairo in 1966. She grew in popularity during the 1990s and produced four albums with her husband, composer Yaser Abdal Rahman. Her father, Muhmmad Mady, was a violinist who played with Umm Kulthum.
The annual International Summer Festival kicked off on Monday, July 10 and will continue through Saturday, August 26 at the Bibliotheca Alexandria (BA) Arts Center.
The International Summer Festival is a massive music and arts festival organized by the BA Arts Center with the goal of adding a “colorful taste” to summers in Alexandria, as explained in their mission statement. It attracts a diverse audience through its combination of classical Egyptian art and new and varied mediums of art and music. The 2017 addition will show more than 60 versatile artistic events including music, theatre, cinema and dance.
This year’s festival will witness the participation of a group of young singers including Mohamed Mohsen, Dina el-Wedidi, Ali el-Helbawy and May Abdel Aziz. Participating Egyptian musicians also include renowned musicians Omar Khairat, Fouad, Mounib, Ahmed Rabie and Hisham Kharma.
Moroccan artist Oum, Tareq al-Nasser from Jordan, Nasser el-Mizdawi from Libya and Asia Madani from Sudan will also perform during the festival.
Egyptian bands including Cairokee, Black Theama, Massar Egbari, Andromedia and Wust El Balad will perform. Nine theatrical shows, dance shows and stand-up comedy performances are scheduled in the program.
