CAIRO – 13 January 2021: The rise of political Islam by the end of the twentieth century comes at the forefront of challenges today as it directly threats the whole countries in the region and acquired hubs and states inside and outside the area. These states adopt its aspirations and support it to control many capitals and taking the lead in the political arena.
The aspirations of this political position converged with the renewed ambition and dreams of old colonial powers to restore their role and glories in a so-called “Islamic caliphate” that is consolidated in Turkey’s Istanbul. This convergence began with the emergence of the neo-Ottoman movement and the rule of the Justice and Development Party in Turkey in 2002 and its project coming to light in 2010.
This movement seeks Ottoman hegemony over the Middle East, the Southern Caucasus, the Mediterranean, and all areas of the ancient imperial influence under the so-called "Banner of the Caliphate." This movement is supported by armed terrorist groups and organizations, as well as the forces that used to claim moderation within the political Islam spectrum and the Salafi forces. These groups embraced the idea and included it in their political and advocacy programs and projects.
Hence, the idea of this book. It outlines the stages of the development of this movement, the environment in which it moved, and the forces that helped it spread and penetrate. The book is an attempt to anticipate the future and draw its features, and what we must do to protect our internal and external security from challenges that seem to will continue for years and generations to come. The crisis is not a crisis of people, but rather a crisis of strategies and ideas that have reached the point of creed.
