History of dreams: Their interpretations & power in the ancient world

CAIRO – 3 January 2022: Dreams and their ancient interpretations were documented in official inscriptions and literature and were found in Mesopotamia as well as the early civilizations of Egypt.

It is worth noting that dreams have played an important role in governance, religion and daily life. Despite the fact that early civilizations had a variety of ideas about what dreams are, they always placed a high value on them.

Dreams were an especially important gateway to receiving messages from the realm of strength and spirit, from deities and other powerful beings.

Interpretation of dreams was the responsibility of those who had experience in such things in social groups such as tribal elders, mothers, patriarchs of a family or community, priests and shamans, according to the ancient-origin website.
