CAIRO – 27 December 2021: Today marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late Islamic thinker, Mustafa Mahmoud, as he was born on December 27, 1921.
Mustafa Mahmoud is an Egyptian writer, doctor and artist. He has authored 89 books, ranging from short stories and novels to scientific, philosophical, social, and religious books.
Mustafa Kamal Mahmoud Hussein Al-Mahfouz, known as Mustafa Mahmoud, was born on December 27, 1921 in Shebin El-Koum, Menoufia, Egypt, to a middle-class family. His father was an employee.
Mahmoud often fell ill in his childhood, which led to his failing three years in primary school, and his inability to play like other children.
Moreover, he studied medicine and graduated in 1953, specializing in chest diseases, but devoted himself to writing and research in 1960.
Mahmoud is the author of 89 books, covering various topics and fields, some of them are scientific, some are philosophical, and some are literary, political, social, and religious. He also mastered writing plays and tales, in addition to novels and travel stories. His style is attractive, with depth and simplicity.
He produced the book "The Mystery of Death" in 1959, and in 1961 he wrote "Einstein and Relativity". Also, Mahmoud wrote “The Qur’an: An Attempt to Modern Understanding” in 1969, and in 1970 he wrote his famous book “My Journey from Doubt to Faith.”
