11th National Festival of Tahteib launches on Dec. 23

CAIRO – 23 December 2021: On December 23, the General Authority for Culture Palaces will launch the activities of the 11th National Festival of Tahteib, set to be held for the first time in the village of Architect Hassan Fathy, west of Luxor .

The National Festival of Tahteib is the most famous festival in Luxor Governorate. The General Authority for Culture Palaces has been keen to preserve the identity of our folklore by holding the festival over the past 10 editions.

In 2016, Egypt succeeded in registering the game of Tahteib on the UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
