Egypt’s Royal Jewelry Museum to host ‘Your Royal Coffee’ archaeological exhibition on Dec. 21

CAIRO – 20 December 2021: The Department of Temporary Exhibitions in the Royal Jewelry Museum will host a new archaeological exhibition titled "Your Royal Coffee" on December 21, in the Media Hall.

The palace of Princess Fatima al-Zahra was transformed into a jewelry museum in 1986. The palace spans on an area of 4,185 square meters and is designed in the style of 19th-century European buildings with exquisite artistic decoration.

The jewelry and collectibles that were confiscated in the July 23 Revolution and amounted to 11,500 pieces were placed in the palace.

The museum houses a large group of gold jewelry and antiques belonging to the Alawi royal family dating back to the year 1805, starting from Mohammad Ali Pasha until King Farouk I. It was registered as a museum in 1999.

The Royal Jewelry Museum, which displays the jewelry of the royal families that ruled Egypt, was built in 1919 in Zizinia, and is an architectural masterpiece.

The museum also includes the holdings of Mohammad Ali Pasha, founder of modern Egypt, founder of the royal family; Princess Raqeim Halim, daughter of Prince Mohammad Abdel Halim; son of Mohammad Ali Pasha; and King Fouad I, who was called the King of Egypt and Sudan.

This is in addition to the holdings of King Farouk I, who received his full constitutional powers in 1937 and remained in power until the revolution in 1952; as well as Princess Fawzia, daughter of King Fouad and sister of King Farouk, who married the Shah of Iran in 1939 and died in 2013; and Queen Farida [Safinaz Zulficar], who was born in Alexandria in 1921 and married King Farouk.
