Emir Kusturica: “This is my first visit to Egypt,I hope it is not the last”

The 43rd edition of Cairo International Film Festival kicked off on November 26 at Cairo Opera House.

“This is my first visit to Egypt and I hope it is not the last” said acclaimed Serbian director Emir Kusturica the head of the International Competition Jury of CIFF.

Kusturica said that everyone want to go to heaven but no one wants to die.

The acclaimed Serbian director spoke about the role and importance of cinema as an effective cultural tool.

“I wish you a good festival and wish good Festival to me” Kusturica said at the end of his speech.

 

Veteran Egyptian musician Hany Shenouda played on piano the music of “ Cinema of Life” song which was sung by Egyptian actress and singer Hend Abdelhalim.
