Musicians’ Syndicate announces important decisions aiming to protect Egypt’s artistic heritage

CAIRO – 24 November 2021: Recently, the Egyptian song declined to an inappropriate state through a combination of some dark forces that deliberately aimed to distort it with the so-called “Mahraganat” songs that used lyrics that go beyond the limits of virtue and morals sometimes and call for violence and social disintegration at other times.

This caused a negative reflection of Egyptian art when it is exported to the world with such distortion reducing Egypt’s artistic, cultural and civilizational role.

Hence, the Musicians’ Syndicate, led by pioneering artist Hani Shaker, aims to get the Egyptian song out of the bottleneck with minimal losses through holding conferences, seminars, awareness-raising and advocacy meetings for civil society, institutions and various entities to join efforts with the syndicate to preserve the true structure of the Egyptian human being in creation, culture and thought.

The most important recommendations that the artist Hani Shaker appealed to in the conference, which was called by Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem and was held at the Palace of Cinema & Cinema Culture is as follows:

1)  Appeal to the National Media Council to support the Musicians’ Syndicate’s  cause and to not host and promote Mahraganat performers.

2)  The return of the state’s production of artistic works that carry the real values and morals of the Egyptian people and to not leave production for unqualified individuals that solely aim for monetary profit, regardless of the content presented.

3)  Opening all state theaters and cultural palaces nationwide to hold concerts and discover talents in cooperation with the Musicians’ Syndicate, provided that the entry fee for concerts presented is affordable to all Egyptian people.

4)  Return of musical education classes to schools and increase interest in all arts academically.

One of the most important decisions taken by the artist Hani Shaker and announced for the first time at the conference was to stop issuing permits for actor Mohamed Ramadan to hold concerts until he is investigated by the Syndicate of Artists for the violations he committed during his previous concerts, in which he deviated from general morals, ethics and values of Egyptians.
