Egypt’s Minister of Culture inaugurates 1st outlet of "Your Book Kiosk"

CAIRO – 18 November 2021: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem inaugurated the first outlet of “Your Book Kiosk” in the Opera House Square.

A total of 333 kiosks are being installed as part of the Ministry of Culture’s participation in the presidential initiative, “Decent Life” in the villages and hamlets of Egypt.

Abdel Dayem thanked Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly for his support of the project. The Minister also clarified that "Your Book Kiosk" aims to spread enlightenment, defy extremism and promote the authentic values of the Egyptian society, which complements the role of the presidential initiative that rebuilt many villages and developed many others.

Furthermore, Abdel Dayem stated that “Your Book Kiosk” together with “Your Book Is Your Culture” initiative will provide the Ministry of Culture's and the private publishing houses' publications at prices starting from LE 20 to encourage different segments of society to read, achieving cultural justice across Egypt.

It is noteworthy that "Your Book Kiosk" publications will be selected by the General Egyptian Book Organization in cooperation with the Egyptian Publishers Association. 

Additionally, the Ministry of Local Development is set to determine the locations and number of kiosks in each village according to the population density, and the ministries of Interior, Defense, Youth and Sports, Social Solidarity, Transport and some civil society institutions will all play a role in the logistics of the project.
