CAIRO - 13 November 2021: The 43rd edition of Cairo International Film Festival will grant veteran Egyptian actress Nelly the Golden Pyramid for Lifetime Achievement.
This award is presented to prominent film figures who enriched the art of cinema with outstanding works.
Nelly is one of the most important stars of the Arab World.
It is hard to remember Ramadan popular figures without mentioning Nelly.
She is best known in the Arab world for her ‘’Fawazir Ramadan’’ (Ramadan riddles.)
Nelly was the star of the show, she performed lots of dances and songs in each episode.
Her shows were broadcasted to various major Arab television stations on a daily basis during Ramadan.
Her older sister is the star Fayrouz, who is known in Egyptian cinema as the "miracle child", and her cousin is the famous star Lebleba.
Nelly has great talent in singing, dancing and acting, which ensured her participation in more than 118 different projects, ranging from cinema, theater and television.
The beginning was at the age of four, when she embodied the role of the child "Mona" through the movie "Deprivation", which featured the great artist Imad Hamdi, and then continued working during her childhood, in movies including "Birds of Paradise", "Mercy of Heaven", "Repentance", "Until We Meet” among others.
In the 1960s, she began appearing as a young woman in many films, including "The Rioters", "The Little Teenage", "Summer Vacation", and others.
This is in addition to her great contributions to television, where she presented several series, most notably "She lived twice", "Bardis", "She is crazy crazy", "One Thousand and One Nights", "Years of Misery and Love" among others.
Her last series "Qasasis Waraq", was screened in 2005, but despite her absence from the artistic scene since that date, we can remember most of her roles through her iconic movies,soap operas and fawazir.
