CAIRO – 11 November 2021: The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in cooperation with the General Authority for Cultural Palaces, is organizing a free workshop entitled "A New Vision for the Art of Copper Wire Jewelry".
The workshop will be held on November 15 at 11 a.m. in Al-Sennari Archaeological House.
The workshop focuses on the history of copper jewelry, copper's multiple uses, and how to benefit from it. Through the workshop, trainees learn the basics of the art of forming with copper wires, methods of assembling copper wire units, as well as the final finishing methods for these units. This comes in addition to teaching them about the ways these wires are used to make jewelry sets inlaid with stones, to be able to eventually make chains, bracelets, rings, and others.
The workshop takes place on Mondays and Thursdays of every week. It consists of 8 lectures, and targets people from the age of 16 and over.
Moreover, the workshop aims to teach participants a hobby and a craft they can use to start a small project, and targets starting a fine school of copper formation to promote the copper industry in Egypt.
