CAIRO – 9 November 2021: Egypt’s veteran actor Ahmed Khalil passed away on November 9 at the age of 80.

 

 

 

 

Khalil tested positive for COVID-19 during filming his latest works “Ela Ana” series, which is currently broadcast on DMC channel.

 

 

 

 

Khalil's health deteriorated and he was hospitalized to receive medical care, but unfortunately, he passed away in the hospital.

 

 

 

 

Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem mourned Khalil, describing him as an icon of Egyptian art. Abdel Dayem added that Khalil excelled in presenting numerous social issues during his extended artistic career.

 

 

 

 

Ahmed Khalil was born in Daqahliyah in 1941. His artistic inclinations appeared in an early age; therefore, he joined his school’s acting team then studied at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts [Acting Department] and graduated in 1965.

 

 

 

 

Khalil was appointed as a teaching assistant at the institute and joined the Pocket Theater.

 

 

 

 

Afterwards, Khalil participated in three films, before deciding to travel in 1974 to work in the GCC countries and become famous there.

 

 

 

 

Khalil then returned to the Egyptian drama and presented nearly 300 works of art between cinema, theater and television.
