CAIRO - 7 November 2021: The 43rd edition of Cairo International Film Festival held its press conference on November 7.
During the press conference CIFF head Mohamed Hefzy said that when he started his journey with Cairo International Film, he didn’t expect to continue for four years.
“Without the support of Ministry of Culture , our sponsors and partners we wouldn’t have achieved all this success” Hefzy said.
Hefzy added that DMC channel like every year will be CIFF main media sponsor.
“Cinema is a mirror to society and one of the main pillars of Egyptian culture” Hefzy said.
CIFF head said that this edition from the festival houses movies from 63 countries.
CIFF management previously announced that it will honor Egyptian star Karim Abdelaziz and during the press conference Hefzy announced that CIFF will grant the Golden pyramid award for lifetime achievement to veteran star Nelly.
“In this edition we have 34 films that will have their world premiere” Hefzy added.
Hefzy said that despite all the success that CIFF achieved they start every year as if they are starting from scratch.
“ Cinema is the tool we use to express ourselves and even our differences” Hefzy said.
The poster of CIFF bears like every year Isis carrying the golden pyramid.
“We are thrilled to announce that for the first time this year Ewart Hall in AUC will host some of our film screenings” Hefzy announced.
Hefzy added that the short movies competition in CIFF is the only in the Middle East that is qualifying to Oscars.
“Spanish movie “Competencia Oficial” will be the opening movie of the 43rd edition of CIFF” Hefzy said.
